คุณภาพจากการตรวจสอบ (Quality by Inspection)

ISO 8402 ได้ให้คำนิยามการตรวจสอบ หรือ Inspection ไว้ว่า
“Inspection is activities such as measuring, examining, testing, gauging one or more characteristics of a product or service and comparing these with specified requirements to determine conformity”

การตรวจสอบพินิจด้วยสายตา ด้วยการวัด ด้วยการทดสอบ ด้วยเกจวัด อย่างใดอย่างหนึ่ง ซึ่ง ลักษณะเฉพาะทางคุณภาพของผลิตภัณฑ์ หรือ บริการ เพื่อประเมินหาความสอดคล้องกับข้อกำหนด

"You cannot inspect quality into a product,
But only by building into it when you produce it.
คุณไม่สามารถใส่ คุณภาพ เข้าไปในผลิตภัณฑ์ ด้วยการตรวจสอบ
แต่ทว่าต้องสร้าง คุณภาพ เข้าไปในผลิตภัณฑ์ ขณะทำการผลิต เท่านั้น"
